Ivy Apartment is a fully refurbished, family and dog-friendly holiday apartment in the heart of beautiful Killyleagh, a few minutes’ walk from the shores of Strangford Lough. It is a 30-40 minute drive from Belfast and 15 minutes from Downpatrick, the final resting place of St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland.
The convenient location is a moment's walk from the local pubs, restaurants, take-aways, cafes and a range of shops, and is a perfect base for exploring the many beauty spots and areas of outstanding natural beauty that Newry, Mourne and Down has to offer. The popular wedding and events venue Dufferin Coaching Inn and Hall and the adjacent pub The Dufferin Arms are a minute's walk across the road, while Tullyveery House and Finnebrogue Woods are both 2 miles (5 minutes) away by car. Wedding venues Ballydugan Mill, Old Court and Hinch Distillery are all within 20 minutes' drive.
The property was built as part of a terrace of houses in the 1800s and has a carriage entrance, which runs under the apartment bedroom and shower room that would have allowed horse-drawn vehicles into the rear courtyard for stabling. This tunnel now provides a perfect place to securely store bikes and canoes out of the weather.
The newly refurbished holiday apartment is accessed by a private front door from the High Street, which opens into the fully fitted and well-equipped kitchen. The back door opens onto a private and secure rear courtyard and gardens with a large dining table that comfortably seats 6 adults. The courtyard is secure for dogs and children, and we are proud to be dog-friendly. Upstairs is the newly fitted shower room and a clean, fresh, spacious bedroom, which has a new double bed and a day-bed which converts into two full-size singles for children.
The kitchen has new laminate flooring and features a Smeg oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee machine, a full range of cooking utensils, pots and pans. The table comfortably seats 4. Please note that the stairs in the kitchen are steep and quite narrow, and unfortunately could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
The shower room has been completely rebuilt, tiled in Italian ceramic tiles and has a large walk-in shower, sink, toilet, lockable medicine cabinet and views over the rear courtyard.
The bedroom features newly laid intricate wood-laminate flooring, a double bed with a new memory foam mattress, a wardrobe, drawers, Internet TV and a large day-bed/sofa which converts into 2 full-size singles. The windows have black-out blinds and thermal black-out curtains, so you only have to see daylight when you want to!
The entire property is covered with high-speed Wi-Fi, which is free.
